Welcome to the home of Darren Eger Applied Psychology DEAP. My practice is primarily based in Melbourne however, our organisational consultancy has taken me throughout Australia and South East Asia. We offer both Clinical Psychology and Organisational Psychological services whilst drawing on a strong background in Forensic Psychology (not a current focus of the practice). This diverse background has produced a unique service that has a focus firmly in applied psychological practice. The best way to find out more is to get in touch and explore how I might be of assistance to your or your organisation.
As we manage through Victoria's lockdown 4.0, people I speak with are describing 'lockdown' fatigue with common statements such as "I'm a bit over it really". Looking after yourself and those around you has never been more important. Falling victim to assumption making is a risk for us all. The good people at RUOK (https://www.ruok.org.au) continue to encourage us to reach out to those who might otherwise be alone both physically and emotionally. Don't assume; reach out and find out by following a few simple tips and as they suggest, "You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener."
Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:
1. Ask R U OK?
2. Listen
3. Encourage action
4. Check in
I understand that the community is experiencing heightened levels of concern and that some may require additional support during these trying times. With the return of restrictions, the practice is again offering Telehealth as the primary option in keeping with the #staysafe messaging from the Victorian State Government.
I encourage you to call me to discuss how this might work for you and any concerns you may have. For many of you , familiarity with various forms of video calls has become very common place. However, if you are still unsure, please call 0395020025 (don't forget to leave a clear message with a return phone number if prompted).
I will post more details as they come to hand. For now, please stay safe and continue to do what you can for those around you. Now is a good time to contact someone you haven't heard from for a while and just say "G'day".
