We're often asked for information and links to information that can be used to support our therapeutic or consulting work. We have assembled a collection of links that we use regularly and we will be adding to them as new ones appear (which often happens) and some expire. This list is not meant to be exhaustive and if you have any suggestions about ones that are missing from these lists, please drop us a line with your recommendation.

In his early career, Darren studied and had a keen focus on Human Factors Engineering; in particular, computer interface design. An interest in how people use and interact with computers and technology remains an area of enquiry for our business. American Psychological Association is a central resource for Psychology in North America  with links to DSM etc.

Australian Psychological Society   The Australian Psychological Society provides information and services to Australian Psychologists and members of the public.  The site contains information about psychology, referrals and guidelines for psychological service.

Australian Drug Information Network  The ADIN provides a central point of access to quality Internet-based alcohol and drug information provided by prominent organisations in Australia and internationally.

The Better Health Channel is a Victorian Government site that covers a broad range of material including facts on post-natal depression and ways to improve physical and psychological health

Beyond Blue is a great source of information about depression

Depression Net provides a comprehensive online resource for people living with depression

Emotional Literacy Australia  - promoting emotional literacy in education, organisations, families and the wider community

Encyclopedia of psychology is a useful reference for terms etc.

Family Life  (formerly known as Southern Family Life) is an agency that provides counselling and support  services for families, children and young people in the Melbourne bayside area.

Dr Grohol's Psych Central is a vast collection of psychology related links. This is a great leaping off point for anything psychology.

Headroom is a website written by young people for young people that includes information on positive mental health, trauma and access to support services

Headspace is the national youth mental health foundation funded by the Australian Government.

Here for Life   Here for Life is a not-for-profit public benevolent organisation focusing on education, awareness and research aimed at the prevention of youth suicide

Kids' Helpline:  A national 24-hour telephone counselling service for children and young people in Australia.

Lifeline  A national 24-hour telephone counselling service for all ages.

Morningside Recovery: Morningside is a private therapeutic centre in Orange County, California. I offer this for the interesting summary articles they produce and not as an endorsement of their service.

NHMRC The National Health and Medical Research Council is Australia's peak body for supporting health and medical research; for developing health advice for the Australian community, health professionals and governments; and for providing advice on ethical behaviour in health care and in the conduct of health and medical research.

Psychology Watch provides quick access to mental health news as well as links to related professional resources

Psychology Board of Australia is the regulatory body for Psychologists and other health professionals.

Reach Out is a website for young people that covers issues including school pressures, family problems, sexuality, friendships and depression

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists is a useful site containing psychiatry specific links and information sheets.

SANE Australia  A national charity helping people affected by mental illness

Spectrum is a statewide service in Victoria that supports and works with local Area Mental Health Services to provide treatment for people with personality disorder. Spectrum focuses on those who are at risk from serious self-harm or suicide and who have particularly complex needs.

Turning Point is primarily concerned with research and dissemination of knowledge about best practices in drug and alcohol services.

Suicide Prevention Australia is a non-profit, non-government organisation working as a public health advocate in suicide prevention

Suicide Prevention is a suicide prevention service with useful information on depression and treatment

WHO  World Health Organization contains useful links to global programs and international positions on critical issues.

Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault: ACSSA is a unit within the Australian Institute of Family Studies responsible for conducting research on sexual violence and victimisation. Their site contains information and links to current studies and fields of investigation.

ANZATSA is dedicated to community protection and safety through the promotion of professional standards, practices, and education in sexual abuse prevention, assessment, intervention and research.

CASA Forum: The Victorian CASA Forum is the peak body of the 15 Centres Against Sexual Assault, and the Victorian Sexual Assault Crisis Line (after hours). Together we work to ensure that women, children and men who are victim/survivors of sexual assault have access to comprehensive and timely support and intervention to address their needs. We also work towards the elimination of sexual violence through community and professional education, informing government policy, advocating for law reform and facilitating research to increase community understanding of the nature and incidence of sexual assault.

Centre for Investigative Psychology is a site run by a private teaching facility in North America. It contains a variety of reading materials that may be of interest bearing in mind that many of the publications are from those running the Centre.

John Bergman's Neurobasecenter. If you're looking for the latest and greatest information about drama arts therapies, neurological attachment/trauma work etc., go no further than John's site. (This site is currently down but will return.)

Serendipity Healing Arts: Rob Longo’s site containing great information on the therapeutic use of neurofeedback in trauma work.

South Eastern CASA (SECASA): SECASA offer a range of services including counselling for victim/survivors of sexual assault children and adult, female and male. The Centre works with non-offending family members, partners, caregivers and support workers. In addition they run a program for young people with sexually abusive behaviours between the ages of 10-17.
SECASA’s site provides numerous links and resources in the field of sexual assault.

VOTA (Victorian Offender Treatment Association) provides information about the prevention of sexual assault in Victoria.

W.E.A.V.E.: Women Everywhere Advocating Violence Elimination. WEAVE state “We are a National Women’s Alliance that aims to eliminate all forms of male violence (including sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, sexual exploitation and trafficking). Our vision is to ensure that all women and children are able to live free from all forms of violence and abuse.”. Their site contains numerous links and resources that are worth checking out.

2008 The Dublin Declaration On Coaching In 2008, coaches, academics and thought leaders from all over the world gathered in Dublin to examine the state of the emerging profession of coaching. The declaration that resulted has provided a backdrop for coaching and remains a seminal document in the field. DEAP founder, Darren Eger was a member of the sixty three strong symposium responsible for the declaration’s production.

Interest Group in Coaching Psychology facilitates the theoretical, applied and professional development of Coaching Psychology as an emerging theoretical and applied sub-discipline of Psychology. Coaching Psychology, as an applied positive psychology, draws on and develops established psychological approaches, and can be understood as being the systematic application of behavioural science to the enhancement of life experience, work performance and wellbeing for individuals, groups and organisations who do not have clinically significant mental heath issues or abnormal levels of distress.

Australian Institute of Management    Australia's largest professional body for managers, the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) facilitates management and leadership excellence by promoting, supporting and developing the profession of management in all its forms.

Software for Innovation
This section is an exciting new work in progress. As a function of our consulting work, we are often using great pieces of software to help us.  Our clients have been asking our advice on what we use and how we use it.  We have decided to go public with this but don't want to get caught up in "selling software".  Our consultants use a wide variety of software tools to compliment what they do.  People are great innovators and conceptual thinkers. Computers are fantastic at processing information. Get the two working well together and exciting things can happen.  Get the relationship wrong, and you have expensive time 'black holes'.  Talk to us about:

We DON'T sell software, it should do that itself.  We are happy to show you the software that we use and in some cases, are even passionate about. Most of our choices are heavily influenced by the KISS principle. We prefer software that is quick and easy to learn and gets the job done. We tend to avoid "bloatware", applications that are feature rich but too time consuming to learn. Most people use a fraction of their software's capacity but are often sold the software on the basis of the features that they might need.  This is selling to appease the purchaser's fear that they are purchasing to avoid missing something.
